Uncle Brandon

I love Brandon for so many reasons. Not only is Brandon an awesome husband and father, but he’s an amazing uncle. The other evening we had our nephews, Jonathon & Jackie, over for the evening while their parents had a night out on the Super-Bowl-invaded-town. It’s so much fun to watch Uncle Brandon and the nephews play – it makes me anxious for the days when Oscar will be running around and playing with his daddy. But for now I’ll enjoy my snuggly little baby. I love that Brandon gave me a perfect, healthy little baby boy.

The evening was a bit chaotic with a 5-year old, 2-year old, and 4-month old. I first started out making dinner for the nephews when Oscar started fussing because he was hungry, too. So, Brandon and I switched, I took Oscar to feed him, and Brandon took over making dinner for the boys. As soon as I sat down, Jonathon (5) came to me and asked,

“What’s Uncle Brandon doing?”

Me: “He’s making your dinner.”

Jonathon: “Umm. Is he any good at it?”

Me: “Yep, don’t you worry. He’s good.”

I knew that Brandon overheard the little conversation as I heard him chuckle from the kitchen, “pfffft, is he good at it?!” Not even 30 seconds later I heard, “AHH! Ooops!” Brandon had dropped the bag of raisins into the applesauce causing everything to splatter onto the floor. Brandon came into the living room, laughing, “sooo, they have only been here about an hour and I’m covered in spit-up, applesauce, ketchup…just a glimpse into the future – we are meant to parents of multiple children!” I love how he makes me laugh.

After dinner, while I snuggled with Oscar, Brandon entertained the boys. My favorite part of the evening was when Brandon busted out the crayons and coloring pages. Half-way into the coloring session, Jonathon and Jackie were losing steam, while Brandon kept on coloring. I think I love him most for his pretty coloring.

2011 was a banner year for us here at Bungalow. Brandon and I celebrated 4 years of being married. We welcomed our first baby, Oscar Wynn, into the world (he was actually born on our anniversary). We took a couple vacations, shot some beautiful weddings, and worked with some fantastic families. Following is the first of three “Best of 2011″ posts. Here’s to the year ahead! May it be just as wonderful as the last.

Craving Winter & Cookies

I have been craving winter for awhile now. Now, you may call me crazy, because with winter comes snow, ice, and all-around coldness here in Indiana (right, Mother Nature? I mean, where is all my snow? It’s mid-January and we’ve only had a dusting of snow! C’mon! ) But to me, it’s a time to unwind, relax, and spend time with people that I love. Our summer and fall schedule is always packed, so when January rolls around, I revel in the weeks of no agenda and no plans. Brandon: “What are we doing this week?” Me: “I’m thinking, watch a few movies, make some cookies, and maaaaaybe do a load of laundry. But cookies come first.”

It’s usually a few weeks into January when I really start to feel relaxed. Client photos are caught up. Office has been organized for the new year. House has been deep-cleaned. Now is when I can go back through the loads and loads of photos we’ve taken of our little man, Oscar, and actually attempt to make his baby book. Yay for the final wedding of 2011! Julie and Aaron had a fabulous December wedding – yes, it rained and was frigid-cold, BUT these two lovebirds were amazing to work with. I just knew that the details for this wedding were going to be spectacular because Julie is fabulous like that. Remember their engagement shoot? Yeah, fabulous like that.

Stunning. Fabulous. Just downright gorgeous, Julie.Aaron has such an infectious smile. Beautiful bouquets by David at the Empty Vase.These are more often than not some of my favorite photos of the day – beautiful ladies being goofy. Proud Papa. “I now present to you, Mr. & Mrs….Wyp….er…..Wypyzyns….uhhh….” Brandon’s view.And Brooke (our rock star assistant) took this at the same time.Love love LOVE snuggly-love.Aaron needed a few supplies to get the garter……SUCCESS! Aaron has a love of all things that fly. He gave all the groomsmen toy helicopters. And they flew.

Our Kissmas Card

Lindsey & Jon heard about us through our good friend and assistant, Brooke – and we are so pumped to work with this awesome couple! It was a bit chilly for Lindsey & Jon’s engagement shoot, but they were troopers! Our mantra for the shoot was, “you can’t hear chattering teeth in photos, right?!”

Kellie & Bryan had a b-e-a-utiful November day to celebrate their marriage. I am so incredibly happy that we were able to share in their special day – as Bryan and I were good friends back in high school. And when we met Kellie at our first meeting, we all just clicked. I just love it when that happens.

Pretty lady. The ring bearer ran down the aisle (leaving the flower girl behind), and then stopped right in front of Brandon. It was pretty cute! Love how Bryan’s little brother is peeking around him to see.Mr. & Mrs.!!Woohoo!A favorite! You two are adorable.Woooooork it. They called a truce after smearing cake all over each other. Umm, yeah, I don’t think a body is supposed to do that. So incredibly sweet.
